i'm not sure why parents seem to always be against piercings. i find them so cool! want more myself. there is some harm in getting your tongue pierced, so just research it before you get toooo involved, but i'd say if you really want it....do what you gotta do, cuz your parents really shouldn't be so irrationally worried about it.
