I know there are times when you really wonder whether or not your parents have your best interest in mind or if they're out to get you, but I'd listen to you parents.
I wanted to get my ears double pierced when I was fifteen and my dad said, "No." He thought if I got my ears double pierced, then I'd want my cartilage pierced, and then my eyebrow, then my nose, and so on. He said that once I turned 18 if I still wanted them pierced then I could. So that's what I did. He still wasn't a big fan of it, but he recognized that I was an adult. I still respected him too and didn't go behind his back and get them pierced before I turned 18.
I went with my friend to get her nose pierced last week and that sparked a conversation about piercings with my parents that night at dinner. Their generation has a different look at piercings (and tattoos) compared to our generation. We are the generation that's being taught to be tolerant of everything too though. Have you asked your parents why they are against piercings? |
