bugs??

I have been seeing these long brown bugs in my house...when I was little I recall my mom calling them pinchers. they have what looks like pinchers on the end of their bodies. Can you tell me more about them and will they really pinch you?

Re: bugs??

Denise,

What you described are probably insects called Earwigs. They are harmless to humans and animals, although if handled carelessly, they can give a slight pinch with the forceps. Earwigs normally live outdoors and are active at night.

Earwigs are easily killed indoors with residual pesticides but long term control can only be achieved by controlling them outside.

Good luck!

Obie
