Fantastic Flatstick Final Four

Here is the recent Flatstick banter that was sent out to the membership in a Tallwood TEE. Feel free to weigh in. Hope to see you at the event this weekend.

Tallwood TEE, August 28, 2007—Flatstick Final Four

Well, shortly after the sound of the last pin of the quarter finals dropping into the cup, the combatants in the Flatstick Final Four began howling at the moon, doing their best imitation of Mr. T intimidating Rocky….but words don’t make putts….Great Putters make putts….

So, the matches are set. Rob Davidson will take on Joe LeBlanc in the first semi on Saturday, Sept 1 at 1:00 PM….Joe is the lone representative of the double digit handicap set and he vows to make the final and carry the flag to victory…..Rob, the 2006 GOTY winner wants to add the Flatstick Championship to his impressive Tallwood resume….

In the other match, Rob Bartha, self proclaimed “Guru of the Greens” will take on the youngest member of the Final Four on Monday, September 3 at 1:00 PM. The early line from Vegas (via Jimmy the Geek Nowobilski) had Bartha at 20-1 and he is pissed at the lack of respect (How does Rodney Bartha sound?)….Yo Pro says he is just backing his protégé….

Some of the recent email trash that has been bantered about:

Davidson to Bartha: “I think Long Putters should be banned….it’s all about Penis envy”

Bartha to the group: “I could putt just as well with a sledgehammer.......that's how talented I am”

Bartha to LeBlanc: “My putting confidence is sky high….I think I could beat Tiger”

LeBlanc to Bartha: “Tony the Tiger?”

And, so it goes…..Briggs is staying very quiet and is going to let his shaft and balls do the talking…well, not so fast….just received a press release from the Briggs camp:

Briggs to Bartha: “I'm in for Monday, or whenever Bartha thinks that he has an advantage. I think he's playing early, which means it will take him at LEAST 18 holes to get warmed up. Last I knew, he thinks I'm very beatable right now.”

Wow….more breaking news from the Pro Shop:

Jimmy the Geek to the Final Four: “I do think there should be a bonus for every ace made. In fact I will donate a sleeve of Pro V 's ( new not used ) to any one of the four who aces three or more holes during a match. Early pro shop odds Leblanc 10 -1 Davidson 6 - 1 Briggs 4 - 1 Bartha 20 -1 Mr. Nowobilski”

Well, there you have it….can the putting live up to the hype? Can Bartha play like Tony the Tiger? Can an upstart journeyman with a 12 handicap beat a Club Champion? Can a young college kid, an eagle scout no less, overcome the slandered Rodney Bartha and his giant shaft? Can Mary Ann and Ginger finally get it on?

To find out, bring your favorite beer and your lawn chair to the course this Saturday and Monday at 1:00 PM. The winners will square off in the Final on Sunday, September 16th. Tickets can be obtained at the Pro Shop. Front row is already sold out. Scalping is at an all time high.

For those who can’t make it because you are attending the craft fair in Glastonbury, check out the Tallwood Forum for the results.
