US policy on treatment of Confederate POW's
The next time someone mentions "Andersonville," tell them about this: The official US policy on Confederate POW's is stated in the preamble to HR 97, passed by both Houses of Congress: "Rebel prisoners in our hands are to be subjected to a treatment finding its parallels only in the conduct of savage tribes and resulting in the death of multitudes by the slow but designed process of starvation and by mortal diseases occasioned by insufficient and unhealthy food and wanton exposure of their persons to the inclemency of the weather." http://www.jtdonnelly.com/mosb/Information/Information.html ************* And no doubt many if not most "patriotic" Yankees and scalawags today find the above acceptable and proper. |

Amazin'.. Just cause we're fighting for our freedom JUST AS THEY DID not so long before, we are treated unjustly. Essentially, Their treatment of us in the Second Revolution was far worst then anything the Jolly good British could've ever dished out. Andersonville was a hellhole! |
