The First 2 Great 8 Series Tournaments...
we had just over 350 for the Kickoff Classic and just under 450 for the Jersey State Summer Champiionship....the awesome stat is that we have over 600 different wrestlers who entered both so like in year pasts its not the same kids, only about 25% are returners...getting a new 75% in wrestlers lets you keep the comp and enables different brackets..great stuff
in the HS division we have had over 300 different kids in those 2 weeks..they come from 125 different schools/towns...
sub hs has had over 300 different kids from 146 teams and towns...
just great opportunity to wrestle kids from different areas with different styles helping you get better...
We sat through the first and second of the great 8 tournaments...sat through the heat of the King of the Jungle...only to have our son humiliated when he got pinned in the wrestlbacks....not because he lost, but because the ref laughed and said "Wow, that was fast and then proceeded to pat the winners back and laugh. Our son is competing against kids who have been wrestling most of their lives whereas he started a few years ago. Not sure he even wants to do anymore summer wrestling because of this.
