Well Sheri. I have a female ginuea pig named Pumpkin who's not yet a year old. She will be in late May. So she's about 9 months old now. Pumpkin when I got her, was very scared. Depending on when you got her. Which I asume was a few weeks ago. On her age, she should be near her mother to feel that kind of protection. What you need to do is get your piggie out and place her in your lap (you might want a towl to prevent piddle, or make a small circle with your legs, place some oranges or hay on a plate) and talk softly to her. Stroke her ect. Then, my Pumpkin started sitting up by my neck when she was sitting in the chair with me. You're her mother now, meaning you should hold and keep her close. Pumpkin's cage is in the living room for me. So T.V. and company can scare her, but keep her out and talk to her, also repeat her name. She'll warm up to you eventualy. Once that was done, I highly recomend that you introduce her to everyone in the household. Let them do the same. Pumpkin always runs back to her cage whenever she's out, but that's not too much to worry about. I also reccomend getting her a friend to keep her company. I wish you luck with your little piggie. -Thunder P.S. I'll be checking in now and then to anwser any follow up questions.
