Grove, OK CajunFest

Okay, I am late in posting this, but I am just getting my bearings from going on vacation immediately after returning from this festival.

Last Tuesday, Clint Ward and I made the trek to Grove, OK to perform at the Jana Jae Fourth of July Celebration with Chris Miller. With the exception of the drummer, and Chris' daughter Camryn playing guitar, it was almost the original Bayou Roots. It was a great time. A long and grueling drive, but a great time, nonetheless.

There was a big turnout of people from all over Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. Looking out across the dancefloor was just like looking out at a dancehall in Louisiana. The best part was looking out there and seeing the familiar faces of Mark Sponer and Jamie Hall. Thanks, guys! It was great to be able to visit with the two of you.

Re: Grove, OK CajunFest

Same here, Ganey. Y'all are a rare treat for us and the rest of the people in this area, and everyone I talked to LOVED y'all! I'm ambivalent about the new structure, where y'all have to play all the time: I love your playing but miss the chance to visit more. Maybe if they would put you up for TWO nights in the hotel,we could alleviate that.

Anyway, y'all sounded GREAT! We're already looking forward to next year!

Re: Grove, OK CajunFest

Ganey,

Did y'all play "Okie From Muskoogee"?

Kinda goes like " Cajun From Church Pwanh"

Did Jamie have on a funny hat and funny shoes?

Halleluja!
It's finely raining here in South Texas.

Sure hope it also rains in Arkansas, OK, CO. and LA.
Tired of this friggin' heat & drought.

I think I voted for Chris for the CFMA thingeee. He has not been nominated for awhile.

Or, I might just have written-in Yvette Landry for all the categories, whether she was nominated for them or not.

It may take a while for the Okie-Lag to wear off you.

Finally got a bass player and drummer for the band who
know what their doing. A Father & Son combo. We finally sound more than half-axx Cajun. In fact, we rock.

Peace.

JB
