Re: Lyrics or translations

You always do so well--have you ever done SAMs Big Rooster by Savoy-Doucet Band?

Re: Lyrics or translations

That would be a good one for Marc. I can understand enough of it to get a chuckle.

Sam's big rooster lyrics

Easy, the lyrics are on the booklet !!
It's true, the rhythm is fast. Ann Savoy says that it’s the first Cajun rap.

(Repeat verse 1)

English lyrics

Me I chase chickens all the day long
So they’ll lay some eggs for Sam to eat
My comb is red, my spurs are long
My meat is hard, but that’s what it take.

It’s me who sing at the break of the day
Every morning when it’s still dark
That’s what makes the sun want to come up
That’s what makes the chickens want to jump up and down.

It takes all that and a little bit more
To be the c-o-c-k in the chicken yard
If I stop doing all the things I’ve said
I’ll become gumbo in Sam’s big bowl.

Marc.

Re: Lyrics or translations

Wasn't that written by Gerard Dole who sometimes pops in here? Maybe he will chime in.
