Very pretty song from Zachary Richard. I ordered this new CD, but not still received. Here's the version by Feufollet :
(Chorus)
Chuck, there are at least two different recordings by Zachary Richard and in one recording I believe he leaves off the middle verse, (which Huval/Dupuy/Fussilier do sing). If you do a google search you will be able to find the lyrics which are pretty much word for word (expect one very small part), sung by Huval.
Wanna know something cool? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. When we started the Friday night jam over at the Begnaud House about 3 yrs ago (Brian Lefleur was there at the very 1st one!). Zach Fuselier, was just barely good enough to play triangle. Well, those jams motivated him to learn the fiddle and he began taking lessons with Mitch Reed and look where he is now! A d@mn good fiddle player, and its only been about 3 years!
Chuck, nevermind the google search, I did it for you. Here are the lyrics that are closer to what Huval sings. Feufollet leaves out the middle verse which Huval/Dupuy/Fuselier include. I couldn't cut and paste these lyrics so you will have to go directly to the website. http://www.songlyrics.com/zachary-richard/travailler-c-est-trop-dur-lyrics/
By the way, when they write ch'val in the lyrics they mean cheval (meaning horse).
Marc, I see the 1st set of lyrics I put up were filled with punctuation errors and such. So i deleted them and added a link to a better version of the song. Unfortunately I couldn't cut and past the lyrics so the only way to read them is to go directly to the site. http://www.songlyrics.com/zachary-richard/travailler-c-est-trop-dur-lyrics/
Hi Jon,
I have 3 versions by Zachary with different lyrics
Album "Mardi Gras" : maybe the original
Album "Looking BAck" : version live
CD "Cap Enrage" : version 1996.
Feufollet sing this last version.
" Travailler c’est trop dur" is the Cajun song the most known in France. In 1975 or 76 it was an enormous success. With Zachary Richard, Beausoleil and Balfa Brothers, it was the beginning of the revival of the Cajun music in France, on returning to the USA, in Europe and in the World.
Excuse my bad English
Thanks to both Jon and Marc for the info. I thought this was a somewhat obscure song, but not so...I've found several interesting versions, including Julien Clerc, Polo Hofer, Michael von der Heide...and Marc and the Boiled Crawfish from Sweden! World Music, indeed!
