Hi all, had a question from a regular here who couldn't log on to the forum being warned for Malware and Bravenet being dangerous, i think. My answer could be interesting for some others too working with windows PCs:
My answer:
Could be malware itself causing that, or an over active anti malicious website blocking program like an anti virus program you're using, or the browser itself. You could prmit bravenet in a browser's security settings as being a safe URL.
I think the link http://pub21.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=1722942123&frmid=16&msgid=0
for brave net is OK.
Malware usually has to do with stuff sneakily installed on your own PC,
by cracking and hacking stuff like key-generators etc, but also by visiting malicious websites too, via javascripts,
As i use Noscript and Adblocker in Firefox, this can be quite bothersome, sine you'll have to give permission to sites individually who persist in using java for normal tasks like menus and forms to fill out.
There are some good anti malware programs to check your PC,2 free ones: Spybot S&D (important, the S&D), the other "Spybot" is malware itself.
Spywareblaster is a good one.
BE AWARE: A lot of malware programs is malware them selves, and never let an external website via a link "check" your PC, that's really an invitation for malware to walk in.
Paid "Malwarebytes" is pretty good, and free for the first few days.
BUT most important is a good software based firewall, the windows one is not very good. This keeps malware if recognised from sending out your banks login codes by the worst kind of malware, the keyloggers recording key board input and sending these data out.
Comodo and Zonealarm have free firewalls in their basic versions.
There are more ways to check a PC for malicious stuff like analyzing the hosts file with HijackThis, http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/, or see http://youtu.be/uwL2r9kd180.

But most important is a good virus killer installed, most paid ones have firewalls and anti malware stuff aboard to boot, and warn you for malicious sites.
I used the free AVAST, and the free Comodo firewall with out their virus "internet security", or ICS for quite some time. Now have the official whole Comodo package for 12 U$D yearly, i think it's a steal at that price.
My current opinion: I think Google Chrome is quite popular because it's over advertised and seemingly fast, this accomplished by being relatively simple regarding safety routines and security thereby being erroneous in dealing with malicious OR decent websites, maybe too on other issues. For me: as browser i prefer Firefox or even IE, with added plugins increasing security. A must in current times with hackers around the global internet. - Nout
The logo at the very top of the page is actually hosted on a website owned by the originator of this board, Joanie Blonde. Google chrome has identified her site as having a malicious malware inserted in it, and when I went directly to her site, it did not give me the option to override it. If you are using another browser that has not caught this, I suggest updating, getting more add-ons, or increasing security.
An easy fix to this is to have Big Nick snag the image and host it on his site as he has done with the header image. I am certain that Joanie won't mind.
Of course, Big Nick is indisposed and may be for a while. I am certain that we can agree that this matter isn't urgent.
”Of course, Big Nick is indisposed and may be for a while." Ganey I wasn’t aware that Big Nick was indisposed. I’m new to the accordion and I just sent away to Big Nick’s website for his Beginners Cajun Accordion lessons dvd. Should I be expecting a long time before I hear from him or receive the dvd? Just wondering. Thanks.
