A remarkable piece of work. This clearly explains why I can't seem to pick up Cajun French.
I think it must be easier for an Anglophone to master the French pronunciation than for French people, or other foreigners, to get a correct English pronunciation. Because I often hear the English pronunciation be massacred by foreigners (including me) much more frequently than the French pronunciation by non-native French speakers.
As I have realized such things about English myself, I have said that if I hadn't learned it as a child, I would never be able to learn it again! I have a lot of fun intentionally mispronouncing a lot of words people take for granted how they should be said!
