Ok she's asleep now A couple concerns here, anyone feel free to chime in, one is I've done 200 transactions on Ebay mainly for sax stuff with 100% feedback but never an outside transaction. Is there a way to do a deal that protects both buyer and seller. Any experience with C.O.D, do they even do that anymore, I have Pay Pal that can protect the buyer but if the other person doesn't have it then what....is there an Escrow service....does anyone want to give me a plane ticket to the sellers town? Check your email from bodhi8 at gmail dot com Sorry if this ends up being a double post can't find the one I thought I sent.
DP,
Thanks I'm sure your a great man of intergrity, you just have to ask. I sent an email to DP at funkygators dot com I'll try again. I do want to buy the accordion.
Bodhi
That accordion, if it comes with the crawfish. shoulder strap, case, etc.. brand new now goes for $US 2,300. I bought one identical to that one in 2001 for $US 1,800. With the de-valuing of the american dollar in the past few years, Jr. has raised his price $ 500, as have many of the other box makers. If this box is in pristine shape, $ 1,400 is a steal. I would consider it myself, simply as an investment.
My first thought was that it was maple from the grain. (but I am not a wood expert at all) I do not in any way want to misrepresent this accordion.
The friend for which I am selling it swears it is rosewood, and the unstained parts do have a deeper color than maple I have seen.
I asked him to find the original recept, but he is not sure he can find it. I contacted Jr Martin about it, and Jr. can't verify the wood type from his records either. (well, it was 10 years ago)
I know a local guy that runs a fine woodshop.
I will see if I can bring it to him and solve the mystery.
Thanks for everyones advice on getting my first Cajun Accordion. I must be living right. Even when I went to the barns to attend to a couple of the horses this morning everything went smooth, can't wait to play that Beautiful accordion for them.......they'll either love it or stampede away!!
Bodhi, congrats on a buying a beautiful accordion....you will NOT regret paying $1400 for it...last year i found a pristine martin on ebay and thats what i paid for it..same exact accordion as yours except mine has the clear curley maple finish instead of the red stain.....i certain that yours is curley maple also.
