I'm going to see Jesse Leger and the Creole Cowboys in Yonkers this Saturday
I am really pleased to be seeing both bands, and especially Jeffrey Broussard!
If any of you all are going I'd be tickled if you said hello. I'll be the guy wearing a black El Sido's t-shirt and dancing badly. Of course, if it's cold, I might have a sweater or something over that shirt.

That is going to be a spectacular show with two of the best Louisiana button box players each fronting a great band. After their NYC show, the Creole Cowboys are making their way to Upstate NY, playing a series of shows around Rochester, Ithaca, Syracuse, and Buffalo. Here's one of those "there's no such thing as coincidence" stories. My band opened for the Creole Cowboys on July 4, 2006. Our scrubboard player also plays percussion in a world music band called The Buddhahood. That group and the Cowboys both performed at the Great Blue Heron Festival in July 2006, near Jamestown, NY, and ended up sharing the stage during the all-night zydeco dance. Jeffrey Broussard so enjoyed the horns and the whole vibe of the Buddhahood, that those bands are playing a series of double gigs together around Upstate NY, and they plan to record at least one song together. This will be fun, and a great way to introduce zydeco to the world-music groove-rock audience that's attracted to the Buddhahood.

Not sure why they aren't on Arn's site. I'll check with the booker on that. Jesse lives about an hour north of NYC. There's a regular circuit of clubs, dances, and festivals around the Northeast that keeps his band busy. Their website: www.jesselege.com/
In case any of you might make it to London (UK): Jesse will be playing with Joel Savoy in The Cajun Barn in London (www.cajunbarn.co.uk) on March 18th!
