Lyrics for La Baque que Brille

I'm trying to find the lyrics to the song: The Ring That Shines (La baque que brille).

Also the Camey Doucet version of :Joile 'tits yeu bleu

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Lyrics for La Baque que Brille

Dessus ta main gauche
Il y a une bague de noçe
Qui me dit Tourne
Tourne, Tourne le dos
J'connais que t'es promis
Et a ta maison il y un mari
Mais tu me dit
Viens, Viens ici a moi
Il y a pas un chance dans le mille
Que tu m'aime autant que tu dit
La bague brille pas pour moi mais pour lui

J'la veux pas que il briller
Dedans mes yeux
Quand tu connais tu peut mentir a mon couer
Plus tard ce soir
Tu serais la dans ses bras
Et moi j'seras ici sans espoir
Non, non j'veux pas ça

(that should be close!)

Re: Re: Lyrics for La Baque que Brille

Thanks so much Neal-

I've tried to get all of these words and didn't think I ever would. Mr. Keddy sings the song at our CFMA meetings,(Golden Triangle) but he is getting pretty hard of hearing and cannot write french (only speaks).

Thanks again Neil,

David

Re: Lyrics for La Baque que Brille

Here is Johnny Allan's version :

…………… (bis)

Other version very similar : (Jimmy C. Newman, Wayne Toups, Seth Guidry)
Know you the woman version by Suzy Thompson (and "Aux Cajunals")? I prefer this one.
Delighted to help you.

Re: Re: Lyrics for La Baque que Brille

Thanks Marc! I couldn't make out "désespoir"! I guess that means "despair."

The English words were in the liner notes to CD The Best of La Louisianne Records, LLCD 1001 (a nice collection, by the way!), and I took it from there to help me understand the song and do my best with the French. It was sung by Johnny Allen on that CD with that band called Cajun Born.

Sorry but I don't think I have a copy of that Camey Doucet song you mentioned. I used to take it for granted that I would always be able to hear those radio 45s all the time, then I moved away and lost access to a lot of that good stuff. Pete Bergeron does a great job on the Web-a-Net for KRVS, but you got to get up early

I'm gonna post the best I can on the Camey D version of 'Tits yeau bleu and see what yall think.
