Grammy Nominees

It's not like we need anything to argue about since we are so good at inventing our own squabbles.

Nevertheless, I've posted the finalists for the Cajun/Zydeco grammy at the link above.

Re: Grammy Nominees - well deserved

They all deserve their nominations. All wonderful bands with excellent musicians.

The Opelousas Daily World--which beat Lafayette's Daily Advertiser in posting the nominees--has bios of each of the nominees on their website.

It's at www.dailyworld.com, or you can access it through the blog (link #1).

Re: Re: Re: Grammy Nominees - well deserved

I agree also...a great selection. Is this the first
time they have given out Grammy awards for Cajun/Zydeco?
I really don't pay much attention to the Emmys, Grammys,
Mammies, etc, so I may have missed it in the past. If
they have, who has won it before??

Thanks-

Re: Re: Re: Re: Grammy Nominees - well deserved

In the past, Cajun and Zydeco artists were lumped into the folk category, so they were competing against people like Bob Dylan. In the past, in the folk category, Queen Ida won a Grammy, and so did Beausoleil. I know Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys were nominated several times, but I don't think they ever won.

This is the first year they have their own category.
