We thought you folks might like to know that Lundi Gras, a 10-track album by Coz Fontenot, is now available - for £8 GBP - from his website, at www.cozfontenot.com. Coz is a traditional Cajun musician who lives and works in Eunice, Lousiana, and sings in a gloriously high-register style, which taps back into the same heart-grabbing spirit you hear in the music of such Cajun trailblazers as Iry LeJeune and Adam Hebert. He was recently featured in an article about Cajun music and culture in The Observer, and the CD has already picked up radio support from the esteemed Charlie Gillett.
I sat next to him at Savoy's Music Center, having recognized him from Wilson Savoy's email about him. He also stopped by Breaux Bridge. Is he related to Isom? He was playing harmonica, and it sounded nice and bluesy.
He's an awesome hamonica player. 50%(rough estimation) of the people in lower Evangeline parish and upper Acadia parish are either Fontenot's, or their mother or grandmother was a Fontenot, all claiming not to be related to each other.
