There's enough blues bands in Memphis to begin dismantling their mind-sets. It could be a very good opportunity to be the only C/Z squeezer in a city that worships BB and Elvis, yuh know...
Just keep an eye on that whole New Madras thingie...
Dwight,
Let me know how it goes with the lessons...I enjoyed visting and I hope that I was able to help you a little. Keep in touch...I am assuming that this is the same "Dwight" I met yesterday?!--Chris
Dat's me. I just flew back into Cali today, so I need to drag that tape out.
Thanks for your time Chris. It was good to see you again.
The jams at Savoy Music and Breaux Bridge were certainly reasons to get better. Even played three accordion tunes at Breaux Bridge, after the "good" players were through. And with a box without a strap. Yikes. I was afraid to do Ossun 2-Step, lest the box bounce out of my hands.
I spent about 2.5 hours in B&K Music, trying to find a fiddle that was a step up from mine, but the one with the clarity and smoothness I liked was $1800, and I couldn't justify that.
He should put a sign on his shop "Porn for Fiddlers".
Saw Joel Breaux there too, at the Breaux Bridge jam. Hadn't seen him in over 10 years.
