another idea for a [hard] case is an LP case

another idea for a [hard] case is an LP case
sold for DJs

guitar center has them on sale sometimes for
as little as $19.99

they are very strong

the lids come off [both a plus and a minus]

slightly bigger than a 1 row box

best to add some foam rubber up in the lid

big enough for a small 3 row, like some of the
chinese ones

this is an example i found on craigslist
[not sure how long it will be visible]

another picture of it with the lid removed

Re: another picture of it with the lid removed

Larry,
These LP cases are made by a company called MBT. Great cases. They list new at $64.00, so if anybody finds one for a lot less, like $20.00, get it. If you pad it correctly, it will hold a 10 button Genuine LA mitred or boxed corner built melodeon with enough room to also stow the shoulder strap. If you padded it with styrofoam, you could probably use it to ice down at least a 12-pack of Schlitz. That is, if you removed the lid.

Not sure who the parent company is, but the MBT case and the Eurolite case is one in the same. Eurolite is typically $40 and the MBT is typically $60. All comes down to shipping costs, and some places are free. This is the case that came with my Le Capitaine, and it's built like... well you know. Very rugged. Most times, I'll use the Peavey soft case, only because it's fewer trips out of the car.

Re: Re: Re: another picture of it with the lid removed

I've got a camo-colored Eurolite case to store percussion and misc. gig junk in. Got mine at Guitar Center back in the DJ equipment section. Heck, I never thought about using it as a box case. 'Course I never have to when I have delegated cases for them. But one of these days I JUST MIGHT 'cuz I can.

I'm gonna be a wheel someday.

they do come in some wacky colors too

yep
that is where guitar center had them
in the DJ section

they do come in some wacky colors too
camo
purple
clear
silver/engine turned
black

i hate the fact that the
lid comes off though

i 'modified' mine with hammer and pliers
to where they don;t do that any more

i also fixed it with a rope so the lid
can;t go all the way back

[at a gig i don;t need lids
falling off, leaning back and banging
into stuff]

You can purchase these from Larry Miller in Iota.
