Anyone have lyrics for "Two Step de Tante Nana" AKA "Chez Moreau" (Pine Leaf Boys: La Musique)
I just discovered this forum and it's great. Anyway I am looking for lyrics to the tune "Two Step de Tante Nana" which I've heard Preston Frank do many times. The same tune with additional lyrics by Cedric Watson appears on Pine Leaf Boys "La Musique" and is called "Chez Moreau". I really don't care what version of lyrics I get but I really love that tune and want to learn. Thanks
Hi Maz - I think your lyrics may be on track. You can download the first vocal of the song (slowed down) - Chez Moreau. You can hear exactly what he's singing. Thanks for listening. (I hope my link works)

Hi Maz - I think your second short lyrics may be on track. You can download the first vocal of the song (slowed down) - Chez Moreau. You can hear exactly what he's singing. Thanks for listening. (I hope my link works)

Ok, I've located the song (I have that CD). The lyrics are not in the CD pocket. I'll try to take the time to listen to it and get the lyrics down over the next day or two (busy time).

Moi j’suis gone à Tit Moreau
Comment j’vas faire si ton nèg’ arriver ?
Moi j’vas courir ........ (la porte?) en arrière
Moi j’suis gone à Tit Moreau
C’est pour avoir du caramel
Le soleil après s’coucher
Et ma négresse a pas .............
Et les enfant après ............
Ma négresse a pas .............
Et moi j’suis gone à Tit Moreau
C’est pour avoir du caramel.

Hi Marc - Many thanks for the translating work. I hope you like the song too. I could send another verse slowed down if you are up for more. Maybe it would clarify some of the obscured lyrics. Here is verse 2 (if you are up for it) - but I feel like I'm asking a lot here.

Here's my take on it:
Comment j’vas faire si ton nèg’ arriver ?
In essence, this is the story of a guy who goes visit his mistress (Mrs. Moreau) while her hubby is not there and the kids are asleep. Caramel = Sex and his wife has no idea (ma negresse a pas idée).
Great job on "Chez Moreau" (from Pine Leaf Boys: La Musique)
Your translation works for me. Case closed. Thank you so much for going the extra mile on this one. And thanks for the synopsis. It's both a great tune and a great story. Merci to the Acadien of the North.
(I too am studying the Marc Savoy Back to Basics tunes)
