Couple things I hear a little differently (in paranthesis). I dont understand the line "moi j’ai t’assis, aujourd’hui". Could it be "moi j'etait assis, au jourd'hui"?

The line « mais moi j’t’ai assis aujourd’hui » is not correct. I think that the song says « mais moi j’étais assis aujourd’hui » as in the version sung by Ann Savoy (Sam’s big rooster CD). But Nathan pronounces quickly and I listen « .... j’t’ai assis .... ».

Nathan's singer on that song is Thomas Langley. It is not Nathan singing it. Langley also sings the Lemonade Dance and another one whose title I can't remember. It's a French version of Hank Williams' On the Banks of the Old Ponchartrain.

Thomas Langley was a great vocalist.
His "Offshore Blues" vocal with Nathan is also great, great, great !
Two or three years ago there was a workshop at Balfa Camp.
It was Robert Jardell.
He explained learning that song. he told the story of who it was based on, I forget it it was actually Nathan's own story.
It brought tears to many eyes.
it is a heart rending story when it's sung that way.

I was getting ready to send you an email to see if you knew who the singer was. I've never heard of him. What did he play, and did he record with anyone else?

Lyle Ferbrache is preparing an article on Nathan Abshire's Pinegrove Boys. He interviewed Thomas Langley's widow, among many other family members of musicians who played with Nathan. Should be a good article!!

I always thought Langley played drums and sang. Lyle thought Langley played steel guitar too for a while. We don't know of any recordings besides the ones with Nathan Abshire, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

could the missing word in 1st verse be the french word for "abandon"? I don't speak french or understand it, but thought someone some time ago had used the word for abandon (instead of condemned)

Abandon is abandon in either language, thanks to the Normans. Change the emphasis from the middle to the last syllable, I think.
