Valse des Vachers fiddle arrangement?

Hello Braves!

I've been working on both accordion & fiddle parts for
"Valse Des Vachers" as of late.

I've been using the first Mamou Playboys CD to model
the accordion part.

But, I've found what I perceive to be a dang near
lovely little fiddle variation that is penned in the
"Ye Yaille Chere" book.

For those that have the text, it's on page 304
specifically the last 25 bars or so.

It's really haunting, but the Playboys don't use that
arrangement for fiddle.

Is anybody familair with the tune and where I might
locate a recording of this "alternate" fiddle
arrangement?

Merci Beaucoup once again!

BN,
Try Beausoleil. I love Michael's version, and it may be the variation that you are talking about.

I like Adam Hebert version and Ray Landry with Nonc Allie Young.

Yes, Michael Doucet recorded that tune both with Beausoleil and with the Savoy Doucet Band. He plays it with the E string tuned down to D, which may account for the "haunting" effect. He teaches the tune in some of his Homespun instructional materials.
