Waltz of Regret - Lawrence Walker

Howdy from Texas,

Here the latest song I am attempting to decipher. Please excuse my continent french ears. Some of these phrases don't make no sense.

Lawrence Walker
Waltz of Regret

Oh, Quel mémoire cher ‘tit coeur
Toujours même à pour ton nèg
Content après oui j’en père.

Y me après la maison
Cher ‘tit coeur
C’est m’en pas là.
Qui m’a fait.
M’en aller-z-avec toi.

Merci pour ton assistance.

Kenny

Re: Waltz of Regret - Lawrence Walker

"Oh, Which dear memoir small heart
Always even in for your nèg
Happy after yes I in father.

There me after the home
Dear small heart
It is me not there there.
Which made me.
Leave me with you."

Your guess is as good as mine. The Free Translations Online can handle a lot of the Cajun lyrics up to a point where you can kind of figure out what the heck is going on, but this one is about as un-grammatical as it can get. Just have to sing it and hope there are no French teachers in the crowd.

Re: Waltz of Regret - Lawrence Walker

Sorry, I should have stated the request more clearly.

I need help with the french lyrics, not the translation to english.

I understand french. The problem, for me, is trying to understand exactly what the singer is singing.

(I meant "contintental" french or "international" french.)

Amities,

Kenny

Re: Waltz of Regret - Lawrence Walker

Je connais cette version :
(Lawrence Walker - Cajun Honky Tonk - Arhoolie 427)

Voici ce que je comprends :

Oh, promet-moi cher ‘tit cœur
De jamais m’abandonner
Quoi t’as fait, oui dans l’(???).

Tu m’as pris d’la maison, chèr ‘tit cœur
Tes bonnes paroles qui m’a fait
M’en aller (z) avec toi.

Marc.

Re: Re: Waltz of Regret - Lawrence Walker

Merci Marc! You did a good job with some hard to hear lyrics!

Quoi t’as fait, oui dans l’(???).

I think I hear, Quoi t'as fait, ouais, toi seule

It's hard to make out and I might not be hearing it right.

Re: Waltz of Regret - Lawrence Walker

Merci Marc,

That make more sense.

Maybe the ??? is:
Oui, dans les pays.
or
Oui, dans les chargrin.

Kenny
