Louisiana Folk Roots announces first Cajun & Creole Kids Camp

Louisiana Folk Roots, the same organization that presents the Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week, is pleased to announce its first Cajun and Creole Camp for Kids. The day camp will run in two separate sessions, June 16-20 and June 23-27, at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion Street, Lafayette. Kids ages 6-12 will learn accordion, fiddle, or guitar. Instructors include Christine Balfa, Courtney Granger, Chris Segura, Corey Ledet, Jane Vidrine, Kristy Guillory (Week 1 only), Dave Trainer (Week 2 only), Yvonne Olivier, and Henry Hample. Tuition is $175.

Regrets -- I'll be teaching full-time in the fall, and the schools in La. start in mid-August, so Southern Week isn't really an option. Maybe I'll show up for Western Week again sometime in the future.
