Just moved here - my husband and I are from Louisiana and would love to bring zydeco music to the west coast!!! It's a mix of Cajun and R&B!!! We both sing and play guitar and are looking for an accordion player to rock the keys!!! If you've never heard of this music check out Keith Frank and Chris Ardoin - we would like the music to sound similar but with female vocals!!! We think the west coast would love do dance and drink to the foot tapping zydeco music - you can't help but want to get up and dance!!! We would like to write some of our own music too!!! Please email me if interested. Thanks!

Don't know them, but they evidently aren't tapped into the West Coast Zydeco scene. I'd be afraid of how much R&B they are interested in, and how much they are ingrained in zydeco. Some people think any "New Orleans" music is zydeco.
that "dance and DRINK to" is of concern too. The dancers out here are into dancing, not too much drinking, though I have heard some fellas do imbibe a bit too much.
tell them about the local calendar, http://calendar10.tripod.com/calendars/2011oct.pdf
I don't want to email them until I know more about them, since I would be a possible, though maybe not viable, and maybe not willing, candidate for the job.
like they invented female Z singers, they never heard of rosie ledet
they don;t know zydeco is already there
they think it is about 'keys'
husband and wife are trouble in a band too, btw
they both play guitar:
guessing hubby is a former rock or white blues player
wife used to be a folky strummer/vocal 'stylist' - fancies self a singer
anyway
be warned!
i wonder what they do for a living, that they can just 'move to walnut creek' - that is kind of pricey
maybe they are silicon valley workers and have a decent studio in the house, or don;t need to make money at music
this is bad too in a way
they may get gigs but they are never for any money, and only fun for them, not you
I sent them something too, pointing to the local calendar, and to Andre, and the history of zydeco in the bay area, and that the dancers here are quite familiar with the genre and know what's real and what's not.
