Poullard Special/2-Step de Pointe aux Tigres

I was digging through some files and came across 2-Step de Pointe aux Tigres by Cory McCauley (Play That Thing, Yeah, Jack). It sounds remarkably like the Poullard Special with a more traditional rhythm.

It doesn't seem like the same song to my ears, it's also played in a different position. He seems to be playing it on an E accordion. Good tune, though

I took a stab at playing Pointe aux Tigres, that turn kicks my butt, can't figure out what the heck he's doing.

Tigers in Louisiana ? When was that ?
Must have been more challenging than shooting squirrels !

Me, it's the third part, or that kind of variation he does at 3:16, that I never was able to play.

Christian, they must have been real good in gumbo, 'cause I don't think there are anymore "tigres" there.

It's all clear now!

Pointe aux Tigres

But there may be another explanation:

"The most popular version of the origin of Cheniere au Tigre’s name concerns a party exploring the areas around the beginning of the 19th century. As the story goes, the party left a boy to watch a boat at a place called Hell Hole Bayou. When they returned, they found him clawed nearly to death and speculated that it had been done by a large wildcat."
