Grand Mary Two Step/ Midland by Boozoo....lyrics almost complete...need help

Need help finishing up Grand Mary Two Step. Pretty much Midland Two Step by Boozoo.

Here's what I have with Bryan's help:

Midland Two Step Boozoo version

Re: Grand Mary Two Step/ Midland by Boozoo....lyrics almost complete...need help

beau jocque also recorded at least one version of that

not sure if it had words

if you can find it though, he may have used the same words

otherwise just heave something in the crack and let er rip!

i just make up stuff if i really want to play the song and can;t make out a word or 2

it;s not like it;s some traditional lyric, or boozoo was shakespeare

if you can figure it out, more power to you, but don;t let that stop you

you can also just throw all the words out and make your own

that;s what those guys were doing

most of those songs were never done the same way twice

john delafose was famous for this

it was like he had a standard bin of song lines and verses and he;d just sing them almost indiscriminately and interchangeably

why;d you leave me
you made me cry
you know i love you baby
you done me wrong
why you do me that way

dozens of them
mostly in french
some not

it;s funny

all these little girls
making these big country men cry

anyway
i am no help!

That's what I hear :

Tu connais moi j’te l’aime,
Moi j’te l’aime de tout mon cœur.
Comment c'est, tu fais comme ça?
Tu connais c'est pas bien(*).

T’as quitté hier au soir,
T'avais dit à ce matin.
Comment c'est, tu fais comme ça?
Tu connais c'est pas bien(*).

(*)"bien", I'm not certain.

Marc.

Hey Thanks....I always try to sing it as close to the recording as I can.

Appreciate your comment Larry.
Marc...dude...you nailed it pretty good. Bryan did some heavy lifting too.

I'm going to use Boozoo's lyrics and playing the second part of the tune as in the Cajun style melody. The Grand Mary Two Step only has the first part melody. I like it with a zydeco feel in the phrasing.

It sounds great with my G box. I have to sing a bit low,
but it doesn't matter with a mic. I'd go with my C box if we played acoustically.

The Beau Jocque version is called Grand Marais Two-Step

different lyrics.

I hear "tu connais c'est pas (à) faire" (he seems to drop the "à").
I'm not quite sure either, but I agree with Larry, it is not set in stone.

thanks.... I'm using a low G to perform it. Good pitch for singing the 2nd part high

I really like my new G box (re-reeded by Martin) for performing this tune.

I can sing the melody of the B part, which is higher melodically, easily.

I'm using the lyrics you guys helped me with. Performed at a club last night, with a double kick at a relaxed tempo and it came off great. I did have to use a cheat sheet for the lyrics until I memorize it.

Boozoo didn't do the B part melody to this old tune. I can't remember is Beau Jocque did.
