Hey Kirk..that was great..I just love Boozoo, and one of his CDs I have has him playing along with Sonny Landreth...it's fantastic. I've been trying to get my band to work on Hee Haw but i've been a bit sidetracked with other projects.
Just for interest and a suggestion....I've been trying to come to grips with an electric guitar based piece with Blues Overdrive , etc etc.
Anyways...I got my studio computer ( Apple ) with Garageband on it..I laid down a drum machine track and rhythm guitar..and it REALLY make big difference in the learning process....make me keep on the beat, play the right way but still allows me scope to improvise..I'd recommend you do it...
Find some way to support your playing with a beat and rhythm section.
THEN re-do the Hee Haw Youtube..It'd ROCK !
Re: Vid of Boozoos Zydeco Hee Haw and composing with Garageband
Hey Darryl,
Yeah, I compose on Garageband this time of year when things slow down for me. Garageband has drum tracks and I found one I liked. IT's called "natural drum" ,but I can't recall which one it was. Just a double kick with snare hit which you can set for the right tempo.
I have composed and played all the instruments, one at a time, even backup vocals.
I like to play over a clicktrack (easy with Garageband) and just do rhythm guitar and vocals to frame out the tune (scratch track to be deleted later)
Then just dig in. Maybe redo the rhythm, then accordion, maybe fiddle, leads, bass, scrub, new vocals, etc.
Fun as hell. Combine tracks and save as a mp3 and mail it out to another band member, friend, etc.
I use a Presonus Firebox with Firewire. Two imputs.
