Had been looking for this cd for a long time, now one of my favorites. Totally different from previous Paul Daigle stuff. I like the songs and really like the tempo he plays them in. Slow Steppin, a slower version of Step it Fast (T'en A Eu, T'en Auras P'us), I much prefer that tempo for that song.
You betcha. I like Manuel's Bar Waltz (Manuel Bar W.). Not many folks have heard of it and only a few recordings of it. Great CD. You can't go wrong with Jason on the fiddle end and his daughter Drew on guitar.
One oddity is the Kindergarten Two step, which sounds like the Wandering Aces A part, and Wafus Two Step B part. Cool stuff. Really like his Bosco Stomp
I hear similarities between Kindergarten Two Step and Octa Clark's Cajun Exercise on You Can't Go Wrong If You Play it Right. At least the A part.
Madame Atchen by Amede Ardoin sounds to me more like Ta Robe Barré than Manuel's Bar Waltz. Link 1 is La Robe Barré by Bois Sec Ardoin, Link 2 is Manuel's Bar Waltz by Milton (Melton?) Molitor with Austin Pitre's band. Well at least to me. I don't know where the fingers go on the buttons for these songs, but you do.
Yes, folks in the Midwest call Kindergarten 2-Step the Cajun Exercise by Octa, when they play it.
And I agree with Neal on the La Robe Barre being Madame Atchen. Neal ALWAYS has these songs correct. What a great resource. (Neal, thanks for the Molitor version of Manuel Bar W. I hadn't heard it.)
(The turn of Madame A actually sounds a bit like Manuel Bar turn.)
Thanks Gene! I could do a lot better if I had the muscle memory you players have. You are the ones who know, for example, that one song is just a two step version of another, which always amazes me!
