Maz - Acadien du Nord
Here's a version: I'm not sure who this is:

That's my boy John Dowden. My fiddle player also. He is good on that accordion.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

I had worked on this song a while back but really don't have a passible version yet. Here's what I could come up with in a short practice.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

Pretty darned good if you got that with short practice.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

Like I said, it's been under my fingers before but its pretty rusty. I had been working on trying the F position and this was the only one I could find at the time. Are there more F position songs that are youtube accessible out there? Maybe if I see a few more this one will be a little easier.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

I can play a few other songs in F, but this one is by far the hardest for me. Jetais au Bal and Petite Ou La Grosse are fairly easy for F, and Mardi Gras Jig is just plain fun.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

Hey, Bryan...Could you post your Mardi Gras Jig...it is that time and I really need to learn it this time around!

Thanks,
Charlie

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

Now Poor Bryan gets all the blame.

Don't worry, I guess it's not that hard after all:
It's very much like Poullard Special (a bit too much?)but then in F:
Just pull when you think you must push, and vice versa.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month! AAARGHHH Toooo

First I have to learn it and than try to find a camera. Good choice anyway.

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month! AAARGHHH Toooo

Hey Ron! Coming to the Cajun jam tonight in Schoonhoven?
Hope to meet you there!!

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

.. of course it's not almost like Poullard .. there are similarities in the chord and melody structure but that's all.

That simple version is a real earopener for me, too. The challenge will be to make it sound interesting without the help of the basses. Fine mess!!

Re: Found Slow Simplified version

Is this somebody from CADG? It was put up Feb 2010.

Re: Found Slow Simplified version

Many thanks, Ehren! That's JUST what I needed to get started.

Re: Found Slow Simplified version

What about the KFLY waltz, or KLFY waltz, or whatever the name that the radio station was, or is, that Aldus Roger had the show on once upon a time.

Is that proper English?

Anyway, wrong call letters notwithstanding,
F is a real beech to play in for me on a C.

Can't use the left side, no Bq reeds, and your guitar players wonder if they should commit you to the Looney Bin, or just send you out to buy more capos.

Fiddlers hate your guts, too.

Probably would be simple on a Bq box, since it's part of the scheme.

Fun key to sing in, however, especially for someone like me whose voice is just a little lower than Randy Vidrine's.

Re: Found Slow Simplified version

I like F on the fiddle. Lawtell waltz is another in F. great song

Re: Found Slow Simplified version

Hey, Christian!

Could you post an OT fiddle version of your Mardi Gras song? I would like to hear it! Or do you have it on You tube somewhere?

Thanks,
Charlie

Re: New (proposed) Song of the Month!

Link 1 is a video of me 2 years ago, I play this a little better now. I will try to re-post this one.

Link 2 is a slowed down lesson.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks
