Fun Songs Help Needed

Can anyone help (i'm a beginner) me with playing a simple fun beer drinking song that can be played on the cajun accordion? I tried playing "ein prosit" (which I know is german) but it did not work out as I can not figure out the notes. Are there any books that can help me with the fingers/notes? I'd like to invite family and friends over and play them a nice "CHEERS" type song...does that exist????

Thanks for all the advice in advance!!!!

Re: Fun Songs Help Needed

Give me a few titles and I'll show them for you om Youtube, OK?
If you are a beginner, I'd advise you to pick something very simple. Does it have to be German? Anyway, Ein prosit is a good example.

Mark,

Link #2 goes to a very simple tablature of the Evangeline Special with a MIDI file. This is about as easy as you can get for a starter. As you learn to play , you can tweak it a little as your skills improve.

To see how this basic tune can be expanded into a major performance, check link #3 of Jo-el Sonnier blasting it out in NYC.

YouTube is a tremendous resource for learners. Just search "cajun accordion."

Have fun!

Hmm .. Maybe Rockin' Sidney's "Don't Mess With My Toot Toot"?

You might find a song you would like to learn on the "Allons Boire Un Coup" CD (Cajun drinking songs) :

Re: Fun Songs Help Needed

I'll work on the Ein Prosit and see if it can be turned to the dark side. I'll post what I can muster

Gemütlichkeit indeed.

Re: Fun Songs Help Needed

Mark, link three may be helpful for you.

Re: Fun Songs Help Needed

Thanks! Now to practice it a few hundred times until I get better!
