valse que me porte en terre

Hello Friends

I am in a wonderful collaboration with my buddy Laren Droll, a really fine Cajun and Zydeco accordion player. A new tune that he is bringing to the table is valse que me porte en terre......if anyone would be kind enough to respond on that one, i would really appreciate it. hope i am not overstaying my welcome asking for all of these lyrics....

A new tune, or you're wanting the lyrics to an existing one? If an existing one, who's is it? I don't have one by that name in French, but Joe Falcon and Pee Wee Broussard each did one called "Waltz that Carrie Me To My Grave", but different tunes. Joe's is the same tune as Iry's La Valse De Grand Chemin. Pee Wee's is an original he made for his wife who had died.

Re: valse que me porte en terre

Yeah, that does sound familiar, but can't place it. Well, here's what I get, probably should get Marc to check it:

Orphelin(?), ouais, notre papa,
il a quitté y a pas trop long temps.
Moi, j'connais on va s'ennuie,
t'en aller de porter ouais, m'enterre.

T'apres quitter pour t'en aller,
t'en aller, me porte (?) enterre,
Moi, j'connais on va s'ennuie,
ouais, la valse que me porte en terre.

Re: valse que me porte en terre

Hi Roger and Bryan. I know two différents songs with similar title :
La valse qui me porte dans ma tombe (the waltz that carried me to my grave) by Joe Falcon.
La valse qui me porte en terre (the waltz that carries me to the groud) by Paul Daigle.

Here's the Paul's version :

Orphelin, ouais, notre papa,
Il a quitté y a pas longtemps.
Moi, j'connais on va s'ennuyer,
S'en aller de porter, ouais en terre.

T'après m’quitter pour t'en aller,
T'en aller, mais dans la terre.
Moi, j'connais on va s'ennuyer,
C’est, la valse, oh ye yaille, qui m’porte en terre.

Thanks, Marc. I knew I was close but there were a couple hiccups I wasn't sure about.
