Changing key of accordion

To Bryan and other builders (and those in the know):
What is involved with changing the key of an accordion, in my case from D to C? Are there any modifications that need to be done to the reed blocks? I have a Quebec handmade box I bought off of eBay. It is in D. Has non-functioning stops which look more like cabinet door pulls..lol. Although not a Cajun hamdmade, I really like this accordion, so I am considering swapping reeds out. Also can Hohner reeds be bought to put in a Cajun box? What is the price difference between Hohner reeds and others (Binci, Voci Armoniche, etc.) I like that bright, old time sound and Bincis seem too bass heavy to me.
