The drums seem to be holding a steady 4/4 time. The accordion is playing some other time signature that makes it weave in and out of sync with the drums.
"If it's wrong, play it wrong. With me. If I'm wrong, you wrong too."
It's a cool song. I used to play it, but it drove my bass player crazy. She could never relax and just play - she counted everything.
Originally, my take was that Boozoo was "jumping time", and the band was just trying to hang on. Boozoo could be a little erratic at times.
But on the other hand, this song has been covered by many others, including Keith Frank, Brian Jack and Chris Ardoin. Theses guys are never erratic. And yet, they retain the weaving in and out of sync.
I think it's a feature because it seems to be consistent. Only once in a while does it seem he's maybe, kinda, padding something or trying to catch up.
But, since you played it, is it a consistent timing, and, can it be quantified?
