The Barroom Blues - Dixie Ramblers - Key, fiddle tuning?

With my limited musical ear, I can't tell what key this is in. I always have to go to the end of the song and see what they close on, and on this one, they play G and then F. At other points in the song, where they seem to be closing a passage, they're playing F.

So, is it in F? How would that fiddle be tuned?

Re: The Barroom Blues - Dixie Ramblers - Key, fiddle tuning?

And, anyone know who the fiddler for The Dixie Ramblers is? Can't find it. I see references to Hector Duhon playing with them, but I suspect he was not part of the original lineup.

Re: The Barroom Blues - Dixie Ramblers - Key, fiddle tuning?

dwight definitely in F. its a standard tuned fiddle. there is no G chord in the song.

the cajun version Blues de Soulard is an awesome song. Personally though I like the Jimmy Rodgers version best. he does it in F minor.

Re: The Barroom Blues - Dixie Ramblers - Key, fiddle tuning?

just realized you meant G note instead of chord, so disregard the G chord statement

Thanks everyone.

Line up of the Dixie Ramblers

They were Hector Duhon and Hector Stutes on fiddles (two Hectors!), and Jesse Duhon and Willie Vincent on guitars. They were around 20 years old, or early 20s.

BTW, Hector Duhon's widow, Grace Stutes, passed away this week.
