Re: My Dirk hurts

I may sound like a broken record but I highly recommend Big Nick's DVDs. They are very reasonably priced and you WILL learn to play. He teaches melody and bass side together. His method is excellent and easy to follow. If you don't listen to a lot of Cajun music, then I suggest you do. You need to memorize and become familiar with the tunes as this music is played from the heart. I have used Nick's DVDs and am currently in Vol 3. When I started learning Cajun music I knew very little about it but now I can memorize a tune in a few days. Also, if you can, get together with a local box player. You can learn a lot from him/her. Go see a Cajun band and talk to the box player. They are always happy to help a beginner. Make an over night trip out of it if you have to, as I have done in the past, and will again do this weekend. It will be worth it. Good luck and keep squeezin'
