I'm with Mr. Boyles on this one. The yelling is part of the culture of this music. But there's times for each kind of yell (the kind where no words are spoken).
A long Ai- yee is great for showing enthusiasm during a loud, powerful 2 step, but kind of inappropriate during a waltz. There, I think Courtney Granger puts just the right amount of spice in with a short, high pitch Woh-ooo.
Listen to Pine Leaf Boys, Hommage au Passe, La Branche de Murier. Perfect amount of spice, not too much, and at the right times.
