Re: First live performance with my FR-18

Dwight,

I was thinking "Cajun". Conventions for Zydeco
seems to be so much more varied that I think that
just about anything goes

I guess I personally think in terms of dancers and
dance tempo.
Geno and Keith Frank both provide nice examples
of great dance grooves.

However, this is such a different league of ensemble
playing than "Cajun' in many cases.

Many of these contemporary Zydeco bands rely heavily
on bass guitar/drum rhythms. Frequently, the rhythm
guitar plays rhythm variations based on up-strokes
or just the "ands";
("one and two and three and four and", etc.)

But counter rhythms don't come off well if no one is
holding down the downbeat (i.e., bass guitar & drums.)

Depending on the format of "Zydeco" that you're
playing, it's going to be rough without a full
rhythm compliment.
