Re: Waltz & Baisse-bas melody accents

Hmmm, I don't know. I play both waltzes and baisse bas. They are both in 3/4 time, and about the same tempo. I can't say that I ever noticed anything in particular about the accents on the melody - maybe just not paying attention to that. So, it's hard to answer your question.

I always think of a baisse bas as being similar to a waltz, but more bluesy.

Why not just listen to several baisse bas and see what you think? There are not very many of them that have been recorded. Here are some I know of (I play all of them):

Bon Soir Moreau
Barres de la Prison
Chere Mignon

There are a couple more, but I don't remember off the top of my head.
