Nice 3 row riff

Here is a vid (link 1) of J.J. Caillier and the Zydeco Knockouts doing one of his old songs "You got What I Need" (?). This is a very neat little riff in the key of Bb played on an F,Bb,Eb. It is a good exercise to translate a key that is on the middle row push and play it on the inside row on the pull. If you have a GCF it would be in the key of C played on the inside row on the pull. You can do it as if you had a single row but try to get some of the notes on the middle row too so you can be more in control. When it goes to the 5 you can do it on the inside row on the pull in the D position or on the first row on the push to get your bellows back in position. A very good song to learn and practice IMHO. I love the way he plays it so easy with that island lilt to it. Man, you can dance all night to this stuff. And I did!!!Enjoy.

Re: Nice 3 row riff

That is cool.

It reminds me a little of Keith Frank's version of "There Goes My Baby".

Re: Nice 3 row riff

'Tis the prob with zydeco -- lotsa sounds-a-similar-riffage-a-go-melodies. BUT, a cool vid and a decent but long song (unless you're a dancer). Like the dreads, but wished for more enthusiasm.
