OT: "tit fer", what's the best way to make a triangle of my own?
Somewhere nearby an accordion, I always hope to have a tit fer, or "little iron" triangle. Yes I'm a metalworker, and have made little tricky things precious for decades, but I'm not currently set up for doing forgework or hot bending.
What's best for a tit fer, mild steel, or iron, and what guage of stock might anyone recommend? All I have is a few photos, and from what I can estimate, an equilateral triagle of aboot 9 or 10 inches (22-25cm) might work just fine.

Kerry - I've made a couple though not exactly high level metalwork. 9-10" equilateral triangle with staff to match this dimension. Round bar about 5mm dia. For material I would use iron for a duller sound or steel for a brighter sound.

Mine was made from the tine from an old dump rake made by Brad Pine. There is a video of him on YouTube. Just type in this address, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KcT0kIlPPQ. If you contact him I'm sure he can tell you what is the best metal to use as he is a blacksmith by trade. Good hunting.
