Say there you all... I mostly play fiddle but also some accordion
(sadly stuck in kansas a long way from Eunice with very few
who people up here who have even heard traditional cajun music).
Been to Balfa camp a couple of times and yearn to go this year...
One of my favorite tunes to play on the fiddle is PORT ARTHUR
BLUES. There seems to be all different variations of lyrics
...that is great.. but... I would love to hear the lyrics
spoken and not sung to get the pronunciation halfway right.
Any sources out there for audio files of french lyrics? Anybody
willing to record an MP3 or other format of the lyrics in true
cajun french cause I want to honor the tune by singin' the words
correctly even though I sing like a sick frog....
I've downloaded several written versions but nothing would be
better than to hear them slowly spoken.
You could check out Jim Léger's blog and get in touch with him. He's a native Cajun French speaker and he reads his texts aloud. You can find a written and a spoken version of his posts on his site. Maybe he wouldn't mind posting a spoken version of Port Arthur Blues. Here's the link:
