Re: Valse de Platin lyrics

Thanks Marc!

I think Rodney Balfa could sing the telephone book with enough emotion to make me cry!

Re: Valse de Platin lyrics

Thanks y'all for posting this.
Never heard this version, in love with the tune.
i play it, now i will sing it.
Neal, you are right. Rodney's voice is buttery and beautiful. And such emotion.

Re: Valse de Platin lyrics

Neal, I second that motion. I've listened to this song a few times, but the other day, I listened really closely. Wow.

It really helps me playing to think of the emotion that folks like Rodney put into the songs and then try to put that emotion into playing.

@Marc - Thank you. You are such a great resource for all of us struggling to learn the music.

@Jon - I found the version that Horace did right away. I like it also.

Re: Valse de Platin lyrics - Help

I'm pleased with how my understanding of the french is coming along. I have the sense of this whole song except for the first two lines of the 3rd verse.

Par habitude de s’aimer,
Et se caresser, chère

Marc? Bryan?

Merci

Re: Valse de Platin lyrics - Help

This is the version I use, which is the version that Horace Trahan sings on his Ossun Blues album.

Valse de Platin (E)
(version : Horace Trahan)

Rappelles-toi, ‘tite fille, les paroles tu m'as dit
Tu m'as dit, chère, toi tu m'aimais aujourd'hui
Aujourd'hui, ‘tite fille, t'es après me quitter

Prépare-toi, chère, viens me rejoindre à la maison
J'sus moi tout seul, après espérer, Que tu t'en reviens, chère bébé
Comment s’fait que tu peux m’ faire tous ces accroires

Rappelles-toi, ‘tite fille, les promesses que tu m'as fais
Tu m'as dit, chère, que toi tu m'aimais, bébé
Comment s’fait que tu fais ça, ça t'après me faire

T'as écouté, chère, les conseils de ta famille
C'est pour ça qu’aujourd'hui, on est séparé bébé
Prépare-toi, viens me rejoindre à la maison
