oberlin walz?

Years back at Balfa Camp, Dirk had played Oberlin waltz for us.

I never got that tune out of my head. It's sort of haunting.

Does anyone know on what album they recorded it? (assuming of course
that they *did* record it)

Merci,

--bn

Re: oberlin walz?

I don't know of Balfa Toujours recorded it, but Bois Sec and Canray did way back, and Cory McCauley has a version of it on his cd. The way Cory plays it is one of my favorite waltzes.

Re: oberlin walz?

Another instrumental version by Poullard, Poullard & Garnier

La Musique Creole - Bois Sec / Canray Fontenot track 11. Can be sampled on itunes or google play

This is about as true as it gets IMO

Re: oberlin walz?

Not sure if its the same you tune you are looking for but Amede Ardoin recorded a waltz labeled Oberlin. You can find it on the "I'm Never Coming Back" album.

Re: oberlin walz?

Cory's Oberlin & Bois Sec's Oberlin are the same.
Amedee's Oberlin is different.

Re: oberlin walz?

Cory got his version from Bois Sec, but he sure plays it differently
