Finding this guy on Youtube, reminded me exactly why I play Cajun accordion. One of the best living, old school Cajun accordionists. Bubba Brown is the man.
There's a comment beneath this video, by a tight ass slug, that kinda p'd me off.
I'd like to see that youtube user play anything like Bubba Brown. Read the disrespect, for yourself. And we all know who that person is. The man whom has nothing but politics to hide behind.
Bubba is a very good friend of mine. I have know him, and played music with him for many years now. I watched him grow from a little boy to the man that he is today. There is a lot to the story of his life, that doesn't need to be told here. All that anyone needs to know is, that he is as special a person, as he is a musician.
You're right Jude. I can tell imediately that man has a good soul. Just by watching his presentation of his Weltmeister accordion. I've never heard playing like his, except in vintage recordings.
In the past 5 months, I've been losing a lot of myself, from MS. In this time, I've been losing my want / need to play music. I got a boost of inspiration finding his videos. I hope to see more. I also just discovered him playing Shamrock, on Chris Miller's red accordion. Needless to say, I'm smiling
I love Bubba's playing, too, and I imagine a really cool personality shining through; he just seems like a good guy, and his friendship with Jude and Jude's remarks about him is all the confirmation I need.
I read the Youtube comment that incensed you Jim, but I didn't see any disrespect in it. I'm also more comfortable with things a little slower, and I've thought that same thing about some of the old masters, too, like Aldus Roger and Pee Wee Broussard; maybe my mind and ear just don't work that fast!
I agree with J Hall in that I see no disrespect intended by that comment. I can't play as fast as Bubba; heck I can't even think as fast as he plays. But I do feel that some cajun music sounds better a little slower.
Bubba plays at least twice a year for the CFMA dances hear in San Antonio.
He can't be stumped on a request. Knows a Brazillion songs.
Jerry Bellard told me that Bubba has a photographic memory.
He can hear a song once and play it right back.
He can also tell you the history of every song.
His life is dedicated to playing Cajun Music.
Jerry Moody meant no disrespect, IMHO.
He just wanted to get a better handle on the song.
Jim P, God bless you, Brother.
In my family, we're all worried that my daughter-in-law is showing lots of signs of MS at age 30.
Everyone pray for a cure.

With all due respect to you fancy dancers. I don't care if you like your cup of coffee, with a side of molasses.
If this line isn't offensive... "I think if you slowed things down a little you find that the song would hang a lot better and we would be able to hear just how good you are. "
iF THAT LINE IS NOT DISRESPECTFUL IN YOUR EYES, SELL YOUR CAJUN ACCORDIONS.
No one can sit, like an arrogant f*ck and dictate his style.
If Amedé Ardoin and Iry LeJeune stepped into a time machine; destination 2013... Made a couple videos on Youtube, and some political jerk off said the same thing, underneath their videos.... how would you react?
Jim Pettijohn is just a little fustrated with me because I caught him lying, and he tells secrets on some of you when he gets ****** at you and his whinning about himself all the time instead of making the most of his time is a little more than I can handle. He just thought he found a way to stick it to me. He might be able to play the accordion pretty good but that is about the best I can say about him.
I have been on here for years and most often consider the source. I have seen those comments come out so often I move on down the board rather than even comment.
Chuck from Kentucky
Not sure which videos he might be playing a Weltmeister in? I didn't even know that he had one ( and I've tuned every one he has over the years ), but the accordion that he is playing in the "Walker Special" video, is an original Sterling !
Here's all we need to know - Bubba is hands down the master of playing Iry Lejeune. I have never heard anyone in my life play like that, close my eyes and I'd swear it was Iry himself.
Well so far two hypocrites have come forward, Jim Pettiass and David blow it out your ass Souza. I have offered a constructive remark to Bubba about the song and in my discussion with him about it he told me what his thoughts were about the recordings. He did not take offence to my remark and thought it constructive. On the hypocrite end of this discussion both of these know it all's are criticizing me and my ability and at the same time saying I shouldn't be making these kinds of evaluations. You are just a couple of punks with nothing better to do than to try to make yourself so important and in reality you ain't ****.
Thanks. This whole post is ridiculous. As you know I don't back down in words or actions, if I am accused of something I will take what ever action I need to. I will ask Big to remove my last post.
