Fais Do Do (negre/bebe/migonne)

Does anyone know where I can find Jesse Lege's version (or anyone else besides Gerald Landry and the Breaux Brother's version) of Fais Do Do (negre/bebe/migonne)? There is a two step titled Fais Do Do but that's not the song I'm looking for. The one I'm looking for is a waltz and I've heard Jesse's version on the radio one day and it was really good.

Marc, do you know the lyrics to this song, either Jesse's version or the Breaux Brothers? I listened to the Breaux Brother's version but is kind of mumbled and really hard to hear what they are saying.

Jon, not sure it's the same song, but Al Berard and Errol Verret have the "Fais Do Do Waltz" on the CD "It's In the Cajun Blood." Available on iTunes.

The lyrics to the Breaux Brothers' Fais Do-Do Nègre are on the Arhoolie/Old Timey 109 lp, Louisiana Cajun Music Volume 2, The Early 30s, transcribed by Catherine Blanchet.

Fais do-do, mon nègre, dans les bras
de ta chère vielle mama,
Va-donc, là-bas, reveille toi
C'est l'heure d'aller à l'ouvrage
Eh, bon à rien!

Pour la cause tu m'as fait (?)

petit nègre, mais chère mama
Reveille-toi, bon matin
C'est pus l'heure d'aller à l'ouvrage

Fais do-do, petit nègre,
mais dans les bras d'ta mom
Fais do-do, petit nègre
Reveille-toi, chère , hé hé!

Reveille-toi, il dit!

Re: Fais Do Do (negre/bebe/migonne)

Wow, thanks, Neal. I would never have heard those words, well, maybe if I got real drunk first.

Re: Fais Do Do (negre/bebe/migonne)

Thank you Neal!

Re: Fais Do Do (negre/bebe/migonne)

Here's the version by Jesse Legé.

Fais do-do, fais do-do mignonne,
Dans les bras de ta chère maman,
Hey là-bas, réveille-toi, cher,
C’est l’heure d’aller à l’ouvrage.

Tournailler, cher t’es là,
Dans les bras de ta chère vieille maman
Hey, là-bas, réveille-toi, cher
C’est l’heures d’aller à l’ouvrage.

Fais do-do, fais do-do mignonne,
Dans les bras de ta chère maman,
Hey, là-bas réveille-toi, cher,
C’est l’heure d’aller à l’ouvrage.

Marc.
