Re: Mardi Gras Song

If you're playing on a C accordion, you're playing in Am. No position I know of attached to that key, like Jon Melancon said. Nice job. Is that a Weltmeister? Here is the embed. Looks like you're fighting the box a little, practice will help that, and the Welty is a bit harder to play than a good handmade, which also helps.

Re: Mardi Gras Song

I think in her book, Ann Savoy describes the playing positions of the accordion to go along with her scores. On a C accordion, the positions would be as follows:

1st=C
2nd=G
3rd=F
4th=Am
5th=D, or Dm

To follow this pattern, I suppose 6th would be Em, but I'm not aware of any songs that are played in the position.

Song in E Minor

Ganey .. FWIW ..

I used to play a Rosie Ladet tune named "Girl Like me".

It was in "E minor" on a "C" box :-)

That is all :)

Re: Song in E Minor

Yes. I think that song was brought up, here, before. Really short phrases, as I recall.

Re: Mardi Gras Song

Nicely done, AJ. It's got a cool old sound going on there.

As for the embedding of the video. The issue is trying to embed the youtu.be link. You need to embed the youtube.com link that you can get. The difference is subtle, but important.

Re: Mardi Gras Song

Good job! Except for the start - I couldn't figure that out- I think it's a nice and perfectly danceable version!!

Re: Mardi Gras Song

Well Peer- I could hear pulsing fiddles building up an intro before the drums kick in, unfortunately all you got was my shaky accordion!

Thanks again Bryan. Yes it is a Welty, due for a tune up and some reed replacements- have taped down the bad ones. Will struggle on with it until I have the means for an LA box, you might get a phone call!
