Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Great Ganey , thanks.
I agree with Bryan.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

You got video bombed by your little girl! Ha ha!

Nice tune, by the way.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Whoo Ganey! Man, I love those big fat notes. I hope this gives new folks some things to think on and work at. I know it has for me.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

You nailed it negre. You have that accordion tuned a special way? it sounded different to me, in a good way. almost like an old recording

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Thats how its done! I did refer to your previous 99 years vid for mine. That accordion does sound slightly wet, the D accordion I was playing has a wet bank also, though I was playing it with just the 3 dry- its good to have the choice. I know you've done a presentation on wet tuning in the past for anyone thats interested.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Not only was the accordion exemplary, but your accompanist did a
stellar job as well :-)

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Great version Ganey.
You really know how to play those triplet notes in a waltz.
Christian: maybe it' s the wet tuning of the accordion that makes it sound old fashioned?

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Doesn't anyone play the B part that Bois Sec did? Up here we occasionally slip it in at the very end, of the last accordion ride.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

LOVED it Ganey! Thank you!

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Gene, 4 years ago this song was tune of the month.
My attempt had a B part. I don't remember if I got it from Bois Sec or Amedee.
You find it on Link #2.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Peer best of the bunch even your wailing sounded very Cajun loved it

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Yes Peer. That's it. I haven't checked if it was originally from Amedee, but I'd bet it was. Good job.

Re: 99 Year Waltz (Convict Waltz)

Both Amede and Bois Sec did the same turn. I heard a different turn in a Dewey Balfa recording.
