Re: Translating an old Hank Waltz into Cajun

The Hank waltz I like to play is "Banks of the old Ponchartrain"
works well.

Re: Translating an old Hank Waltz into Cajun

Thanks so very much! The english lyrics I provided were already a re-phrasing to try to fit the song. I'll work some on the song using your translation and see if I can make it work. Again, thank you for your help :)

Re: Translating an old Hank Waltz into Cajun

Hi Christian, I adopted your translation on the 1st verse and tried to apply your advice to the second. Here's the 1st and now 2nd verses with the original, a re-phrasing and the translation. What do you think of the 2nd verse?

1
Oh you know that I've come back and we've tried it all over
I'm trying again my little girl
J' su' essayer encore ma ti fille

But each time my dear, it was worse than before
But every time its the same bad things
Mais chaque fois chere c'est les mauvais meme choses

Now my heart is broke, it's sad and it's sore
My heart is broke and sore
Mon coeur est casser, il est tout éraillé

So never again will I knock on your door
I will never again knock at your door
Je vas jamais cogner à ta porte encore

2
Oh you know that I love you no other will do
My dear little love, I like you like no other
Mon chère tite amour, Je t'aime pas comme les autres

Please tell me darlin' why can't you be true
My heart wants to know why you can't be true
Mon cœur veut savoir pourquoi on ne peut pas vrai

But now you are gone, it's over and so
But this happiness is over and so
Mais à cette heur, c'est fini et si

Never again will I knock on your door
I will never again knock at your door
Je vas jamais cogner à ta porte encore
