Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

Yes Ian, but which version ?

Marc

Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

i have a version by 'Filé' also another by 'Savoy-Doucet' - they both sound very different

Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

Here are both versions : "Talle de ronces" or "Talle d'éronces"

SAVOY-DOUCET's version

Oh bébé, moi j'connais, j'ai puni,

Hey, 'tite fille, moi je voudrais tu viens quand même,
Viens me rejoindre bébé,
En arrière la talle d'éronces.

Marc.

Here's another one to chew on:

La Talle de Ronce (The Blackberry Bushes)by the Mamou Cajun Band, Adam and Cyp Landreneau. Avail. on iTunes & Amazon. Interestingly, Cyp plays an old Hohner HA-114.

Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

Hey is this the Ian I know and love from Iangland? If so, big welcome! If not, welcome anyway!

Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

Here's the lyrics that I use for band gigs.
Can't remember where they came from.
Also, the grammar probably sucks.
Sung to same tune as Adam & Cyprien used on Pete Seeger.
What this song has to do with a briar patch, have no clue, Brer Rabbit.
The turn on this piece can be a killer.
Fiddlers especially seem to resent this number, for some reason.

Oh, Yé yaille, tu m‘as dit que tu m’aimais!

Oh, Yé yaille, tu m‘as r'semb tu m’as quittais.

Oh, Yé yaille, tu m‘as dit tu veux quittais!

Oh,‘tit monde, aujourd’hui tu’m tourne l’dos!

Oh, Yé yaille, moi j’vois pas que moi j’t’ai fait

JB

It most certainly IS Monsieur Jumpsuit!

Re: Lyrics help: La Talle d'Eronces (The Briar Bush)

Wait until y'all find out that there is another version of this song by Aldus Roger and the Lafayette Playboys named The Wafus Two Step, aka The Waffle Two Step, aka, the Pancake Two Step. I may make this one of my pet projects once the Fall Season opens up again. Just thought I'd drop in for a sec. I haven't been reading nor posting. I'll play catch up in the fall. Right now, I working on some other worldly projects. LOL
